What can I say, for the price of this laptop it is fantastic. I got the i5 version and I am really pleased with it.
I can see why some people may have issue with the screen, but I think some of the reports of how bad it is are a little over the top. I can happily place the laptop at the end of my bed and watch a film or play a game using a controller. At some point I may choose to replace the screen myself, but the main reason will be because I like to tinker with things and not because the existing screen is unusable.
The laptop boots really fast thanks to the SSD. Yes you can get faster ones, but the SSD in this is still a massive upgrade from a standard HDD. After removing the bottom plate to upgrade the RAM I can see that adding a hard drive for storage will be really simple. There is a 2.5 inch bay empty to accommodate a laptop size HDD, an upgrade I will do at some point soon.
I think 16GB ram is needed these days, so if you are ordering the i5 version I would recommend going to Crucial and ordering an 8GB stick to put in straight away. The upgrade is simple. 1 screw on the bottom (it does not come right out, it is attached to the bottom plate so you can't drop it) and then just run a flat screw driver around the plate to pop off the clips that hold it in place. The ram then just slots in place above the existing 8GB stick. Put the plate back on, power on and you are good to go.
I mainly bought the laptop for work and was a little unsure if gaming would be any good on it. Diablo 3 runs at 60fps on full graphics. Not the newest game, but I was impressed with the performance. It smashes gaming performance on my Mac.
All in all, if you are looking for a solid laptop for work or a bit of gaming you can't go far wrong with this.
