I am a retired aerospace structures research and development engineer, with 32 patents.
First, KNEX has really figured out the plastic toughness chemistry. I have 30 year old KNEX sets which are still like new. Most plastic toys degrade quickly, but not KNEX. Congratulations to your chemists!
I noticed on the box that 98% of the parts are made in the USA, the car comes from China, and the parts sorting is done in the Dominican Republic.
My question is: How in the world, how in this universe, can you buy the materials, make the injection molded track and structure parts, make the car in China, ship all the parts to the Dominican Republic, assemble kits (by hand I suppose?), ship them to distributions centers, and then have Amazon ship a kit to my front door, for the incredibly low price of $19.87, and have everyone in that chain make a profit??? Did Amazon make a mistake on the price? Are you somehow subsidized by the US Government? It really boggles my mind! I am mind-boggled! I can see putting a man on the moon for 288 billion dollars, I comprehend that. But I can't see how you can design, build, and ship this toy to me for $19.87. I just don't get it.
Edit: After contacting customer service they sent me out a new book that is properly numbered. It came in the mail today 2/16/21 much to my surprise because I never saw the email about it. I'm glad it was fixed and now the little one can try to put this together with his big sister!
