The r8ib.24xlarge is a memory optimized instance in the r8ib series with 96 vCPUs and 768 GiB of memory on Intel Xeon Scalable (Granite Rapids) (up to 3.9 GHz), which makes it memory-heavy at 8 GiB of memory per vCPU.

Within the same generation and size, the r8g.24xlarge on AWS Graviton4 costs $5.66/hour, 44% less ($3,202 a month), though switching means rebuilding software for arm64. The other variants are the r8i.24xlarge at $6.67, the r8gd.24xlarge at $7.05 and the r8a.24xlarge at $7.67.

Running it in N. Virginia instead of Tokyo saves $1,574 a month per instance: $10.04/hour against $12.20/hour, a 21% spread. It is not offered in Canada Central, São Paulo, London, Mumbai, Singapore and Sydney, so plan around that if you need a presence there.
